Hospitality Kampuchea (HoKa)

The Hospitality Kampuchea (HoKa) is an excellent industry-based training model, offering high-quality hospitality vocational training to low-skilled workers. The HoKa training programme is the best need for managers and business owners in the hospitality sector to grow their businesses. Moreover, HoKa contributes to building the capacity of trainers in target Provincial Tourism Departments, enabling them to provide further training to tourism professionals in and around the province. HoKa is implemented in ten target provinces, under the collaboration of the Ministry of Tourism and the Skills Development Programme, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

The Hospitality Kampuchea (HoKa) Steering Committee of the Ministry of Tourism proudly announced the successful training of 4,106 individuals, of whom 2,553 were female, during the Annual Stocktaking event held at the Cambodiana Hotel in Phnom Penh.

Initial vocational education and training
Three Hospitality Professionals gained better skills and experience through the HoKa Training Programme
Despite their hectic daily schedule working in hospitality, three trainees found time to attend the Hospitality Kampuchea (HoKa) Programme to enhance their skills and knowledge. Through their hard work and perseverance, the three trainees have improved their practical and soft skills to use in their day-to-day job and share with their coworkers to grow their business.

Hospitality training led to a decent future for low-skilled workers and disadvantaged youth
Perseverance and encouragement led three young Cambodians to turn themselves into successful business owners or managers after taking part in the Hospitality Kampuchea (HoKa) training programme, with the support of the Skills Development Programme (SDP). This success convinced them to become HoKa trainers to share knowledge, skills, and attitude with the young generation, particularly low-skilled workers, contributing to the rebooting of the tourism sector in Cambodia.

Reskilling and upskilling are key to meeting the market demand after the pandemic. The HoKa Steering Committee lately convened to perform its annual progress review, endorse the HoKa training materials using for nationwide and discuss priorities for 2022 to ensure continuous access to quality training for disadvantaged youth and improve their livelihood. 
Improving Hospitality Industry in Cambodia Through HoKa

HoKa to Expand to Preah Sihanouk Province
Having seen the benefits and practicality of HoKa in Kratie, Strung Treng, Preah Vihear and Kampot provinces, Swisscontact through the Mekong Inclusive Growth and Innovation Programme (MIGIP) and Ministry of Tourism have planned to expand the scope of HoKa to Preah Sihanouk province in the first semester of 2019.
