The Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Building is a  one year initiative funded by Khmer Enterprise, established by Ministry of Economy and Finance in Cambodia, USAID’s WE Act Project through Pact Cambodia and Swisscontact. The project aims to strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems by deepening trust-based relationship among the system’s actors that will help to strengthen an enabling environment for entrepreneurial networks to form high quality connections to support entrepreneurship. 

The project engages joint activities with like-minded partners and entrepreneurial support organizations to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and foster best practices in this field that will help to make overall system stronger. 

OBJECTIVES

  • Promote collaboration and trust-building among Entrepreneurship Support Organisations (ESO) in Cambodia and simultaneously improve capabilities of participating ESOs
  • Foster meaningful and long-standing exchange and information sharing among system’s actors to identify market gaps and opportunities to strengthen Cambodia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem
  • Share the best practice and promote culture of collaboration build a network with like-minded stakeholders to strengthen an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cambodia

The project works with entrepreneurial support organizations, ecosystem builder or development partners to catalyze the efforts to bring about meaningful and long-standing peer exchange and learning, peer volunteering and collaboration among the system’s actors in building Cambodia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.

  • Facilitate entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs) monthly meeting called “Give a Day”: This creates a routine and space through which ESOs can learn more about each other’s work and differentiate their program. This can evolve into demand-oriented discussion, presentations, and collaborations that will be combined with peer exchange workshops and peer volunteers to support to fill-internal capacity gaps of ESOs.
  • Facilitate development partners and government agencies quarterly meeting: This allows system’s actors to share progress of their programs and identify market gaps and opportunities to design the programs in filling market gaps rather than reinventing the wheel and enhance meaningful collaboration between system’s actors.
  • Facilitate an entrepreneurial ecosystem annual conference:  The conference aims to build a network with like-minded stakeholders to strengthen Cambodia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. This allows to showcase the best practices in promoting collaboration and trust building and foster entrepreneurship culture among ESOs and system’s actors.

Expected Results

  • 10 entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs) monthly meeting called “Give a Day”
  • 4 meetings among Development Partners and Government Agencies
  • 1 annual conference, with an aspiration that this annual event will continue to become the ESO Annual Conference in Cambodia

Building and Strengthening in Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Cambodia 
On May 18th, 2022, Khmer Enterprise, WE Act Cambodia and Swisscontact organized the 4th edition of “Give a Day” monthly meeting. Give a Day is an initiative within the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Building (EEB) Project. The meeting was attended by 56 participants representing investors, entrepreneurial support organizations, representatives from the Government among others. Tommy Boukhris from AVPN Cambodia Advisor and Senior Consultant & Portfolio Manager, Emerging Markets Consulting - EMC nicely presented the investment landscape and was appreciated by all the participants.

Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Building Project Kicks off
 The Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Building (EEBP) project is jointly funded by Khmer Enterprise, USAID’s WE Act Project through Pact Cambodia and Swisscontact. EEB is implemented by Swisscontact. EEB aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystems by deepening trust-based relationship among the system’s actors. This will help to strengthen an enabling environment for entrepreneurial networks to form high quality connections to support entrepreneurship. EEB engages in joint activities with like-minded partners and organizations to strengthen the exchange of knowledge and foster best practices in this field that will help to make the overall system stronger.
EEB consists of three elements 1) “Give a Day” monthly meetings, 2) Ecosystem Builders quarterly meetings, and 3) the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem annual conference.
