BYETS Project stepping into the field of Agro-Processing

Upskilling and Reskilling
04.03.2024
The Building Youth Employability Through Skills (BYETS) project started its new journey in Agro Processing (AP) by partnering with renowned AP factories such as AkijBashir Group and City Group, marking the establishment of Workplace-Based Training (WBT) system that promises to reshape the future of youth employment.
The BYETS project successfully delved into the field of the Agro-Processing (AP) sector by developing customised modules and partnering with multiple renowned factories to establish Workplace-Based Training.

To spearhead advancements in the AP industry the project has integrated the expertise and resources to implement a WBT system. The BYETS project is at the forefront of pioneering the development of a Jute module, focusing on the processing of raw materials rather than finished products. One of the project partners, SGS Bangladesh Ltd., is developing modules focusing on Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and Jute products. These modules will play a crucial role in upcoming training programs under the BYETS project.

BYETS project will be developing master trainers within the factories, equipping them with the knowledge and skills essential for the effective implementation of WBT. The project's scope extends to guiding and supporting factories in establishing and executing the WBT system making it sustainable beyond the project period.

The goal of the project is to achieve a sustainable environment for continuous upskilling and reskilling of the existing workforce. This strategic approach aligns seamlessly with the BYETS project’s commitment towards developing skilled workers in the AP industry, especially in the Jute sector, enabling them to compete effectively in the international market.

BYETS project is supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) and implemented by Swisscontact. It aims to support Training Service Providers (TSPs) and enrol 10,000 youths in market-driven training in two key sectors, namely AP and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), across Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, and Rajshahi divisions. Simultaneously, the project will provide WBT by partnering with employers to upskill 15,000 workers in the AP and Readymade Garments (RMG) sectors.
