Under the Building Youth Employability Through Skills (BYETS) project, RISDA Bangladesh organised Pre-Employment Capacity Development Workshop for trainees seeking employment. These sessions were expertly facilitated by a representative from the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and an experienced freelancer. The primary objective of the workshop was to acquaint the trainees with potential employers and provide them with a comprehensive overview of the ICT industry. Those who had successfully completed courses such as graphic designing, digital marketing, and web development actively engaged in the discussion sessions. The workshop plays a vital role in equipping these trainees with career-boosting skills, including communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities, which are cultivated in the workshop sessions. Furthermore, the representative from BASIS offered valuable insights into the ICT freelancing marketplace experience. Consequently, these valuable insights will greatly benefit the trainees by providing them with essential knowledge about the international freelancing market and overall employment opportunities.
Funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and implemented by Swisscontact, the BYETS project will collaborate with a minimum of 20 Training Service Providers (TSPs) to enhance their capacity in delivering market-driven training and job placement services that align with the demands of employers in the ICT sector. The project also seeks to assist TSPs in their engagement with employers and industry associations. This will foster the development of a sustainable network connecting TSPs and the industry, facilitating connections between all involved parties.
