Swisscontact (www.swisscontact.org), the Swiss foundation for technical cooperation is a private and independent operating foundation, promoting sustainable economic growth in developing countries. Swisscontact is implementing the Sustainable Tourism Education Development Project (STED) as part of the Indonesian Swiss Development Cooperation. The STED Project is the second pillar of the STDI Program financed by SECO and jointly led by SECO and the Ministry of Tourism. The STED Project acutes overall goal is to achieve a better qualified workforce with relevant skills in the tourism sector with a geographic focus on Lombok and, subsequently, utilizing spill-over effects through a cooperation with a network of training institutions in Indonesia. The rational for the STED Project is the need of a better qualified tourism workforce and the creation of job opportunities for graduates from tourism education institutions under the Ministry of Tourism.

Job Brief

The Senior Project Officer Industry Relations (STED) assures the smooth-running of all private sector related activities under Outcome 1 ("The selected PTNP poly(s) and companies implement link and match (dVET) model")

of the STED Project, comprising of:

  • Inclusion in decision making process.
  • Strengthening understanding between private sector experts and school staff.

 

The main workplace is located in the Swisscontact Office in Lombok, but flexibility is expected from the employee for tasks to be conducted outside the employment location. This position requires frequent travel including to rural areas.

 

Task, Authority & Responsibility

Under the direct supervision of and in consultation with the Technical Advisor STED, the Senior Project Officer Industry Relations will carry out the following tasks:

  • Participate actively in the strategic and operative planning of all private sector related activities in the remainder of phase 1
  • Conduct rapid market assessment of tourism segments skills supply and demand
  • Conduct assessment of industry readiness/feasibility for testing the dVET model
  • Develop, manage, coordinate and cultivate all relations between STED/PPL and the private sector
  • Develop and maintain regular newsletters and LinkedIn posts
  • Develop a reliable and systemic approach for private sector collaboration between the relevant polys
  • Support the Technical Advisor in the identification, selection, planning and supervision of short-term experts for all private sector related activities under Outcome 1 (including drafting of ToR).
  • Perform other job-related tasks not specifically described in this job description upon mutual agreement with the Technical Advisor and the Project Manager

Furthermore, the Senior Project Officer Industry Relations will carry out the following duties:

  • Always represent the STED Project in a professional manner towards all stakeholders and potential stakeholders.
  • Assure strict adherence to all budget requirements and application of appropriate accounting procedures
  • Maintain all documents (e.g. reports, forms, logbooks etc.) as required by Swisscontact regulations and STED Project common practices.
  • Assure adherence to gender mainstreaming, good governance and Conflict Sensitive Program Management (CSPM) in all activities in coordination with other project staff.
  • Act as the contact person for subcontractors and partners of all private sector related activities
  • Organize relevant events under Outcome 1 in collaboration with other staff
  • Participate in Monitoring and Results Measurement (MRM) in close collaboration with the MRM Coordinator
  • Report all problems and risks perceived immediately to the Technical Advisor.

 

Employee Requirements

  • Well networked in the tourism industry in Lombok, links to tourism polys is a plus
  • Experienced in seeking, developing, and maintaining relationships with actors of the tourism industry
  • Analytically minded, able to assimilate and apply new techniques and knowledge quickly to deliver insights and solve problems
  • Highly disciplined, motivated to work remotely with regular online team meetings, while at the same time able to travel regularly for working purposes
  • Team player
  • Fluent in English and at Indonesian language
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office, skills in online communication is a plus
