04.11.2020
On 4 November 2020, the Kosovo Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) organized the initial meeting, held virtually, on the development of a tourism strategy for Kosovo. The goal of the meeting was to lay out the next steps in compliance with the global trends of tourism development post COVID-19 crisis worldwide.

For this work, the MTI is supported by the Promoting Private Sector Employment, a Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation project in Kosovo. The Swisscontact tourism expert Christian Pallmer presented to the participants details of the Swiss St. Gallen model for destination management. During the meeting, Pallmer emphasized the importance of understanding tourist behavior, the local and social experiences, digitization, various age groups of tourists, and specifics of the sustainable tourism practice. “The perspective of tourism development needs to be based on understanding and knowing visitor flows,” he said.

The MTI representative Irfan Lipovica said that this time, the participation of municipalities as stakeholders for the development of the tourism strategy is key, along with the support to be provided by the Swiss experts.
