The event focused on “SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals” took place on 20th October 2022 in Dhaka.

Philippe Schneuwly, Swisscontact’s CEO and Executive Director, attended the event and highlighted how the organisation is collaborating with the private sector in Bangladesh and globally to address development challenges and achieve common goals. He also shared his thoughts on the potential of the vibrant private sector in the country, and the role it can further play in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

"Official Development Assistance contribution will never be sufficient to provide the financial and technical resources necessary to achieve the SDGs. Collaboration between the public and the private sector is imperative to address development challenges."

Bangladesh
Bangladesh is one of the most populated countries in the world. This poses perpetual challenges in ensuring food security, education, decent jobs, and healthcare systems. However, the large population created an abundant supply of labour and a highly competitive labour market. For this reason, Bangladesh offers very low production costs and has become one of the most cost-efficient production hubs.
