Swisscontact Ghana and AGI-ESC Sign Strategic Partnership to Launch DoSkills, a Game-Changer for Skills Development in Ghana

25.06.2025
As Ghana accelerates its shift toward a green and digital economy, the need for industry-relevant skills has never been more urgent. In response, Swisscontact Ghana and the Energy Service Centre of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI-ESC) have formalized a strategic partnership to launch DoSkills, a demand-driven skills development platform designed to align training with real-time industry needs and unlock new opportunities for workforce transformation.

As Ghana positions itself to lead Africa’s transition into a green and digital economy, the demand for new and adaptable skills across industries is rising at an unprecedented pace. From solar PV installation to electric vehicle servicing, Carbon accounting, digital financing, and even soft skills like leadership, adaptability, and analytical thinking, the country’s economic transformation depends on a workforce ready to meet these fast-evolving demands.

In response, Swisscontact Ghana and the Energy Service Centre of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI-ESC) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to launch DoSkills, a demand-oriented skills development platform that promises to realign training with the needs of industry. The agreement was officially signed by Mr. Rajiv Pradhan, Country Director of Swisscontact Ghana, and Kofi Anim- Ayeko, Technical Advisor, AGI-ESC, formalizing a bold joint commitment to reduce the country’s widening skills gap through innovation, coordination, and shared leadership.

A Bold Step Toward a Skilled, Sustainable Future

Despite a growing and capable workforce, Ghana’s current training ecosystem remains fragmented and outdated, with many institutions struggling to align curricula with practical, industry-driven requirements. Industries, in turn, lack clear guidance on where or how to upskill their existing workforce. This misalignment risks sidelining thousands of potential professionals and undermining national goals for inclusive, sustainable growth.

DoSkills is designed to change that.

Built as a structured, industry-led skills development methodology, DoSkills will enable employers, training institutions, and government actors to collaboratively identify priority skill areas, co-create training content, and deliver workforce solutions that are relevant, scalable, and future-proof.

From Agreement to Action

DoSkills represents our commitment to building systems that respond directly to what industries need today, and anticipate what they’ll need tomorrow,” said Rajiv Pradhan, . “This partnership with AGI-ESC reflects our belief that sustainable impact happens when development and private sector actors co-create solutions.

Echoing this, Kofi Anim- Ayeko added, “At AGI-ESC, we’ve seen firsthand how industries are evolving — but the availability of skilled professionals has not kept pace. DoSkills will help industries take an active role in shaping the workforce they need, while also creating more coherent pathways for upskilling and employment. Together, we’re setting a new standard for how skills development can drive inclusive economic transformation in Ghana.

Swisscontact and AGI: A Shared Vision for a Responsive Ecosystem

The DoSkills initiative is being co-developed under the Green Energy Program (GEP), implemented by Swisscontact and co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The partnership builds on foundational work already laid by Swisscontact, including its organization of the 2025 SkillUp Forum and B2B Expo, which convened key players from vocational training, private industry, and the development sector. The event underlined the urgency of workforce alignment and set the stage for DoSkills as a long-term, systemic response.

DoSkills is more than a project, it’s a movement to align skills with opportunity, to bridge gaps with innovation, and to ensure that no one is left behind in Ghana’s journey toward inclusive and sustainable growth.
