Exchange and Planning Workshop for 2022 of Component 1 of VTESS Project

On 17 – 18 January 2022, the Vocational Training and Employment Support Services (VTESS) project conducted an Exchange Workshop for the year 2022 for the Component 1 of the project – Certificate 1, 2 and outreach training.

The workshop was chaired by Mr. Nouphan Outsa, Director General of Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (DTVET), Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES). Participants of the workshop were more than 40 representatives from IVET (TVET) partner organizations from the 5 project provinces of Oudomxay, Xayabuly, Xiengkhuang, Khammouane and Saravane plus national representatives from DTVET.

It was conducted at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Vientiane Capital and was the first such event where participants met physically again after many months of strictly online meetings because of Covid restrictions. Covid protection measures were put in place.

The purpose of the workshop was to report on project implementation issues and the results achieved for 2021. The project partners from the provinces also developed their work plans for project activities for 2022. The workshop was facilitated by the Manager of Component 1 plus the National Coordinators with other project staff also making contributions as well.

The VTESS project aims at vocational training and labour market insertion or re-entering of schooling of the main project beneficiaries, who are people between 15 and 35 years of age, have completed primary and/ or lower secondary education only (early school leavers), and are subjected to income poverty. The main objective of the project is to improve the income and, ultimately, the livelihood of its beneficiaries.
