Building a Better Future through Technical and Vocational Training

Juliasse Miquitai didn't have any experience in masonry work until he attended a bricklayer course through the Skills to Build project in Mozambique. He learnt about blockwork, formwork, roofing and slab filling and also had the opportunity to do practical work on a building site. With experience, Juliasse was able to work on bigger projects and hire assistants. He can now support his family and save for the future.

The Skills to Build Project is based on the hypothesis that the development of skills and competencies for employment and self-employment will help young men and women to find better jobs and, therefore, achieve better incomes, contributing to greater economic and social equity in the country. The project is financed by Christa Foundation, among other donors. As part of the Swisscontact Development Programme, it is co-financed by SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA).
