56 Officials Graduate from Communication Skills Training to Boost TVET and Tourism Promotion

30.06.2025
Congratulations to 56 officials (9 women) from TVET partners and the Provincial Department of Tourism (PDoT) has successfully completed a comprehensive Communication Skills Training course on "Social Media Management, Photography, Videography and Graphic Design".

Led by the Skills Development Programme (SDP), this training programme aims to equip participants with the necessary competencies to promote TVET programmes effectively and raise public awareness of the importance of tourism training and services in Cambodia.

The importance of communication skills in today’s digital era

Effective communication plays a vital role in enabling organisations and individuals to convey their messages clearly, engage with diverse audiences and enhance their visibility. In an increasingly digital landscape, proficiency in managing social media platforms, creating compelling visual content and designing promotional materials is indispensable.

Recognising this, the SDP communications team has prioritised enhancing the communication capabilities of partners, including communication and marketing officers from TVET institutions and Provincial Tourism Departments. These training sessions form part of an ongoing initiative throughout 2025 and are complemented by follow-up coaching and refresher courses to ensure sustained skill development.

Training objectives and key outcomes

The primary objective of this training is to equip communication focal points with the practical skills in digital content creation, enabling them to effectively promote TVET initiatives, engage stakeholders, and enhance visibility at both national and provincial levels.

By the end of the course, participants had learned to:

  • Manage social media, plan content, engage audiences, and understand analytics.
  • Create high-quality photos and videos
  • Use basic graphic design principles for promotional materials.
  • Improve institutional communications and outreach.
  • Apply basic AI tools in digital communication.

Reflections from trainers and participants

"This training is an essential step in developing long-lasting skills that will benefit both individuals and the wider TVET and tourism sectors in Cambodia. By equipping our partners with enhanced communication skills, we can promote TVET programmes and tourism opportunities more efficiently."
Mr. Kuch Sovithiea, SDP Communication Manager and Master Trainer.
"Learning new communication tools is very important for us. Now, we can promote local tourism services more effectively and demonstrate how tourism creates jobs and supports our economy. This training helps us to reach more people and encourage them to enrol on tourism training programmes."
Ms Vong Sreydeth, trainee from the Preah Vihear PDoT.
"This training has been very valuable for our team. It has equipped us with practical social media and digital content creation skills that we can use every day. With these new skills, we can better showcase our programmes and our students' successes, encouraging more young people to pursue vocational training."
Mr Pun Sophy, trainee from the Polytechnic Institute of Banteay Meanchey Province.

Looking forward

This training marks the beginning of a sustained effort by SDP to support communication capacity building among TVET and PDoT officials. Continued coaching and refresher sessions are planned throughout 2025 and 2026 to ensure that these skills remain current and effective.

By enhancing communication capabilities, these institutions will be better positioned to convey the importance of skills development and tourism to stakeholders, thereby contributing to Cambodia’s social and economic growth.
