05.04.2019
After the dissemination Workshops on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in Preah Vihear, Stung Treng and Kratie provinces, presided over by H.E Pich Sophoan, Secretary of State of the MLVT, in February 2019, the implementation phase has now begun.

Swisscontact through the Skills Development Programme (SDP), in cooperation with the Directorate General of Technical Vocational Training (TVET) and the Preah Vihear Provincial Training Center, organized and implemented the first time in Cambodian history, a pilot project on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) through competency assessment of 31 participants in the two occupations, Motorcycle Servicing and Small Engine Servicing, under the regulations of the Cambodian Qualification Framework (CQF) Level 1, from 25 to 29 March 2019.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process through which the existing knowledge, skills, and experiences are converted into a nationally recognized qualification. Workers who have learned their professional competencies on the job, but have no formal certification, can demonstrate their theoretical and practical knowledge in an RPL competency assessment. Through this process, non-formally acquired skills can be converted into formally recognized competencies.

Having an official certificate can bring comparative advantages in the labor market, provide access to further formal education and training, a positively contribute to an increased self-esteem.
