SDP Insitutionalisation

The Skills Development Programme (SDP) is a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The SDP is currently in its 2nd phase (2020 to 2024) which is implemented by Swisscontact, an independent, non-profit organisation based in Zürich/ Switzerland, in a consortium with INBAS and in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT)and the Ministry of Tourism (MoT). The programme works closely with the government at the national and the provincial levels and with partners such as the National Employment Agency (NEA),public and non-governmental training providers as well as companies and small enterprises in the hospitality and other sectors.

The SDP pursues two main objectives in phase 2: 

  • Firstly, the Cambodian Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system will be supported to become more effective in the five target provinces, and secondly, disadvantaged young women and men and low-skilled workers will improve their employability (technical, soft and entrepreneurship skills). 
  • The overall goal of SDP is disadvantaged young women and men and low-skilled workers have gained access to decent employment and increased income.
HoKa
The Hospitality Kampuchea (HoKa) is an excellent industry-based training model, offering high-quality hospitality vocational training to low-skilled workers. The HoKa training programme is the best need for managers and business owners in the hospitality sector to grow their businesses. Moreover, HoKa contributes to building the capacity of trainers in target Provincial Tourism Departments, enabling them to provide further training to tourism professionals in and around the province. HoKa is implemented in ten target provinces, under the collaboration of the Ministry of Tourism and the Skills Development Programme, a project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
Greening TVET
To contribute to environmental protection and mitigate the impacts on climate change, Green Education and Training has become a global trend and is high on the agenda of the Cambodian Government. The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT) and the Skill Development Programme (SDP), a project of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) has been initiating the “Green TVET” at the Provincial Training Centres (PTCs) in 5 provinces (Kratie, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear, Rattanakiri and Mondulkiri). Greenimg TVET aims at increasing awareness of learners, trainers and school management on environmental protection and supporting TVET schools as well as businesses to become eco-friendlier and environmentally sustainable.
