Inclusive economic, social and ecological development to effectively contribute to sustainable and widespread prosperity in this region, to provide economically and socially disadvantaged people with an opportunity to improve their lives through their own efforts. Our programmes improve the workforce to promote skills development, ensure labour market insertion, responsibly support tourism destinations and strengthen entrepreneurship to open up new economic opportunities.
Systemically, we integrate into our programmes in the region a gender equality and women’s empowerment perspective, a conflict sensitive perspective and the inclusion of strengthening governing institutions that promote human development and social cohesion. Especially in the Middle East, Swisscontact focuses on bridging the gap between the traditionally present humanitarian aid and the relatively new development cooperation.
Swisscontact contributes to the shift to sustainable solutions in this fragile and volatile part in the world full of opportunities and selects its partners, approaches and interventions accordingly.
