The challenge of waste management in Ghana remains a pressing issue, requiring collaborative efforts from key industry players to develop sustainable recycling solutions. Following a successful talk program, that was organized by Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), the Swiss Embassy and Swisscontact at the Swiss ambassador’s residence on March 18, 2025, Isabelle Chevalley presented on “zero waste to landfill, it’s possible”, Most stakeholders that attended the event enquired of what the next steps would be. After some internal discussions and suggestions from other stakeholders, Swisscontact (Ghana) is pleased to announce that it would be happy to facilitate regular dialogues with key stakeholders in the recycling sector to take small steps which could lead to greater actions. These discussions will foster knowledge-sharing, identify opportunities for collaboration, and contribute to the creation of a structured recycling network in Ghana.
Swisscontact (Ghana) initiates the hosting of these industry dialogues bi-monthly, together with other stakeholders on a rotational basis, allowing sufficient time for discussions, action planning, and follow-ups. Each session is structured as follows:
Keynote Presentation(s): A speaker from the recycling, environmental, or policy sector will provide insights on a relevant topic.
Discussion: Industry experts, policymakers, and private sector representatives will discuss key issues and potential solutions.
Networking Session: Participants will engage in open discussions and explore collaborative opportunities. Action points from each session would be recorded and Swisscontact would take responsibility for coordinating those action points with the stakeholders.
The idea of this networking event is to bring the ecosystem players together. Hence this is open to all stakeholders. Information will go out to the stakeholders that joined the event on March 18th and will expand to the wider ecosystem players in the days to come.
