Swisscontact Ghana has hosted the inaugural Recircle Ghana stakeholder meetup, the first in a series of dialogues aimed at strengthening collaboration and innovation within Ghana’s recycling ecosystem.
Held at the Swisscontact Ghana office in Accra, the intimate session brought together key players from across the recycling value chain, including representatives from, TID Global International, Zoomlion Ghana Ltd, Pangea Africa, AHK Ghana, Maiden Environmental Services. The objective was to create a space for honest, solution-driven conversations around Ghana’s waste management challenges and explore how strategic partnerships could drive change.
The small group setting encouraged open, honest exchanges and a strong sense of co-ownership around Ghana’s waste management challenges.
Key discussion points included:
‘’ I think this network is very phenomenal and serves as a community of people passionate and excited about the secular economy, green transition and creating entry point for young individuals to tap into the waste management and recycling ecosystem. The learning exchanges and the input that were made by everyone present was very instrumental in the development of ReCircle Ghana. Thanks to Swisscontact for identifying this huge gap and making efforts to bring us all together as stakeholders and actors to start a movement and a community that will eventually benefit Ghana and the world at large.’’ - Maxwell Beganim - Young Green Entrepreneurs
Rooted in the momentum generated during the March 18th event at the Swiss Ambassador’s residence, where stakeholders rallied around the vision of “zero waste to landfill”, this dialogue represents a natural next step. Participants reflected on lessons learned, shared practical experiences, and identified potential avenues for joint action.
The Recircle Ghana series is designed as a bi-monthly platform for ecosystem dialogue, with each session featuring thought leadership, open discussion, and action planning. Swisscontact Ghana will play a coordinating role by helping to follow up on agreed action points, ensuring continuity and accountability.
The Recircle Ghana series will continue on a bi-monthly basis, with each session spotlighting key themes such as innovation in recycling, policy and regulation, financing, and community engagement. The next session will build on today’s insights and begin by discussing the outline of a strategic roadmap for collective action. The aim is to design and refine the roadmap over time and finalize it by the end of 2026.
In the coming months, ReCircle Ghana is hopeful that additional players across the recycling ecosystem will join ensuring diversity of thought and depth of expertise.
