Uttoron organises Competency Standard workshop with industry experts

28.03.2021
Uttoron project organised a workshop in collaboration with RMG Industry Skills Council (RTISC) and Bangladesh Garment Accessories Packaging Manufacturer and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) on 27 March 2021.

The task analysis workshop was organised to develop the Competency Standard (CS) for General Finishing Operation (GFO) trade, a new training pioneered by Uttoron project in Bangladesh to meet skilled workforce demand in the industry for packaging activities. The project signed a tri-partite partnership with RTISC and BGAPMEA in February 2021 to develop a nationally standardised curriculum for this trade and get it approved by NSDA. A rapid market assessment conducted by Uttoron project found an overwhelming demand for a skilled workforce in the packaging sector. The standardised national curriculum will create the avenue for other training institutes to provide training on packaging trade and contribute to achieving the National Skills Development Policy (NSDP) of government. RTISC Chairperson Mohammed Nasir inaugurated the event. Vice-president BGAPMEA also attended the event along with other industry experts.
