The Swiss private sector: a catalyst for talent and innovation

Switzerland, Tunisia

The Perspectives program, supported by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and implemented by Swisscontact, is opening new doors for young Tunisian professionals. Through an 18-month work experience in Swiss companies, participants gain hands-on skills, improve their language proficiency, and immerse themselves in innovative work environments.

Established through a bilateral agreement between Switzerland and Tunisia, the program facilitates the integration of motivated young talent into local teams in Switzerland, while offering Swiss companies privileged access to highly qualified profiles. With streamlined procedures, personalized support, and free participation, Perspectives stands out as a unique initiative fostering strong and lasting partnerships between the two countries.

Transformative encounters

At the heart of Perspectives’ success is the active involvement of the private sector. In high-demand fields such as technology, solar energy, architecture, pharmaceuticals, and hospitality, many companies have found the program to be a practical solution for strengthening their teams.

By welcoming young professionals, they gain not only skilled contributors but also fresh perspectives that enrich both human and organizational dynamics. Swisscontact provides support at every stage, ensuring a smooth and professional process. This win-win model energizes local teams and opens new horizons for Tunisian youth.

Ismail’s story: growing together

Ismail Zitouni, a student in industrial chemistry at INSAT in Tunis, exemplifies the impact of Perspectives. Recruited by a Swiss cleantech company for his final-year internship, Ismail was able to apply his engineering skills while exploring the demanding and stimulating world of Research & Development.

"I never felt like I was just passing through. From day one, I was treated as a full member of the team."

Thanks to efficient administrative procedures, Ismail quickly settled in and focused on what mattered most: developing his skills and contributing meaningfully to the company’s projects.

A valuable asset for companies

For the company, Ismail’s presence proved to be a real asset. His team spirit, scientific rigour, and ability to share knowledge left a lasting impression. Colleagues noted that he contributed not only intellectually to projects but also culturally, offering fresh and valuable insights shaped by his background in Tunisia.

Beyond technical expertise, the integration of young Tunisian professionals introduces new viewpoints, sparks innovation, and strengthens team cohesion. Several partner companies now encourage others to join the initiative, convinced that diversity in backgrounds and experiences is a powerful driver of growth and innovation.

A sustainable and inspiring model

Perspectives demonstrates how collaboration between international cooperation and the private sector can yield multiple benefits:

  • For Swiss companies: increased competitiveness and openness;
  • For young professionals: valuable international work experience;
  • For Swiss–Tunisian relations: strengthened long-term ties.
With professional guidance, minimal bureaucracy, and genuine human exchange, Perspectives stands as a sustainable model for talent integration. It shows how companies, through active engagement, can become true catalysts for innovation, diversity, and shared development.
