"I have been fortunate to be engaged in the Cambodia start-up growth journey for the last few years and every single time I am back in Cambodia, I can't help to sense that there’s an essential and intangible ingredient in the Cambodian start-ups - a second to none determination, a relentless energy and a soul. Actors tasked in cultivating and nurturing the start-up ecosystem sense its presence. And in my humble opinion, so do early adopters of employees and customers. All these energizes the contribution of skills, talent, investments and enthusiasm which then promotes a sense of meaningful connection and shared purpose."
Sathis Manoharen, Entrepreneur in Residence.

His engagement began on 16 March with a full day workshop on Operational Excellence: Managing the Levers that Drive Business Growth, co-hosted by Swisscontact and Khmer Enterprise. The workshop was designed to help founders and business owners understand operational levers that affect growth, cost efficiency, and scalability, strengthen prioritization across people, processes, and systems, and link daily operations to strategic outcomes and financial performance. The session agenda covered core operational excellence levers, key growth levers including revenue, cost, and productivity levers, execution across people, processes, and systems, and links between operations and financial performance.

"Joining Mr. Sathis’s workshop on ‘Operational Excellence: Managing the Levers that Drive Business Growth’ was a major turning point for my operations. It moved beyond theory, providing a masterclass in how to bridge the gap between operational efficiency and financial sustainability. The session helped me refine my logistics framework and reinforced that building a truly scalable venture is about mastering the infrastructure behind the scenes."
Vanthy Teang, Chief Executive Officer at Ele Online Store.

The workshop was attended by 46 participants from 42 small and growing businesses (SGBs), including early-stage startups and SMEs. Participants reported improved knowledge and positive satisfaction. They considered the workshop likely to support business growth, and women entrepreneurs reported increased confidence in decision-making.

"Operational excellence is about continuously optimizing how we work and eliminating unnecessary costs. It also means building systems that can scale quickly without losing efficiency. When these are aligned, operations become a key driver of sustainable growth."
Dr. Phoura Y, Founder & Chief Executive Officer at Scholarar.

On 17 March, Sathis delivered the workshop Storytelling Your Slides for Investors in collaboration with Swisscontact and AUPP Technology Center (ATC) at the American University of Phnom Penh Technology Center.
