Give a Day

Give a Day is organised as a bi-monthly meeting to provide a platform for entrepreneur support organisations (ESOs) in the Cambodian entrepreneurial ecosystem to deeply explore critical issues and foster peer-to-peer learning.

Background

Give a Day was piloted in 2022 through the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Building Project (EEB), a joint venture of Khmer Enterprise, USAID’s WE Act Project through Pact Cambodia, and Swisscontact. The initiative has demonstrated its success by creating a routine space for ecosystem stakeholders to discuss shared challenges and spark discussions on potential solutions, significantly strengthening collaboration and enhancing the quality of support provided to entrepreneurs. Following its initial success and the clear value perceived by ecosystem actors, the platform was integrated into the Enhancing Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Investments (3Ei) Project. This transition marked a significant scaling phase, expanding Give a Day’s reach from Phnom Penh to the provincial level.

Today, the initiative has evolved beyond its original role as a networking hub into a vital learning platform. By facilitating topics relevant to emerging trends in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, Give a Day attracts a diverse range of participants—including start-ups, SMEs, corporations, service providers, and academia—extending well beyond the initial ESO audience. Notably, this maturity is most evident in how established ESOs now utilise Give a Day as a primary onboarding platform to integrate new representatives into the broader Cambodian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Objectives

  • Empowering Systematic Examination: Give a Day is committed to providing a dedicated space for key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem to systematically examine critical issues. By encouraging constructive dialogue and informed discussions, we aim at identifying the most pressing challenges and co-create effective solutions that will fuel entrepreneurial growth and sustainability.
  • Cultivating Trust and Understanding: we believe that trust is the foundation of successful collaborations. Give a Day aims at fostering connections and build trust among ESOs. By improving their understanding of each other's work and differentiating their programmes, ESOs can better leverage each other's strengths, creating a synergistic impact on the entrepreneurial landscape.
  • Facilitating Demand-Driven Collaborations: Give a Day endeavors to be a facilitator of demand-driven discussions, presentations, and collaborations. We organise peer exchange workshops, where ESOs can exchange knowledge, share experiences, and collectively address challenges faced by entrepreneurs. By nurturing a collaborative environment, we empower stakeholders to work together in addressing the needs of the entrepreneurial community.
  • Enabling Knowledge Sharing: at Give a Day, we recognise that expertise is a valuable asset that can transform organisations and services. We facilitate the sharing of expertise among ESOs, enabling them to gain valuable knowledge and insights. This collaborative learning approach leads to continuous improvement, ultimately benefiting the entrepreneurs they serve.

Vision

The vision is to be the driving force behind a dynamic and interconnected entrepreneurial ecosystem, where key stakeholders come together to address critical challenges, forge strong connections, and collaborate seamlessly. We strive to create a nurturing environment that fosters trust, knowledge-sharing, and meaningful relationships, ultimately leading to enhanced services for entrepreneurs, empowering them to thrive and innovate.

GIVE A DAY in the Making

2019
Connecting the Phnom Penh entrepreneurial ecosystem study conducted
Connecting the Phnom Penh entrepreneurial ecosystem study was conducted by the Credit Suisse – Swisscontact (CSSC) Initiative. This study, funded by the Credit Suisse Financial Inclusion Initiative (FII) and implemented by Swisscontact in collaboration with Impact Hub Phnom Penh, aimed to assess the connectivity among players within the entrepreneurial network in the capital city of Cambodia. The concept of Give A Day emerged from the entrepreneurial community as part of this Social Network Analysis (SNA) study conducted in 2019. We published  the Connecting the Phnom Penh entrepreneurial ecosystem study in 2021.
2021
Give a Day piloted
The ‘Give a Day’ initiative was introduced through a pilot program implemented with EuroCham in October to December 2021 and supported by Khmer Enterprise, Credit Suisse and  Swissscontact (CSSC) Initiative.
2022
Give A Day integrated under the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Building (EEB)
Through the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Building (EEB) initiative, the Give a Day emerged as a valuable brand for the entrepreneurial ecosystem members. Under EEB, we organised and conducted 10 Give a Day events, covering topics including investment readiness, ESO’s programme mapping, funding mapping, business models, collaborative approach, digital economy, human-centered design, and lastly, innovative financial modelling. We identified 34 ESO issues in three areas a). mobilising investments, b). entrepreneurship support, and c). trade and market. Based on the survey results, 85% of participants felt Give A Day was valuable to them, and 100% mentioned that Give a Day created an opportunity to meet new organisations and exchange information, and learn about others' work. The events in 2022 also provided the basis for Give a Day to continue in 2023, including the piloting of Give a Day in one province outside Phnom Penh.
2023
Give a Day integrated into the Enhancing Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Investments (3Ei) Initiative
To continue the legacy of Give A Day events, the Enhancing Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Investments (3Ei) initiative integrated Give A Day to continue its positive contributions to the entrepreneurial community and to further expand Give a Day events outside of Phnom Penh. Under 3Ei, we organised 6 Give a Days in Phnom Penh and 3 Give a Day in Siem Reap in 2023. In total,  201 people representing 83 organisations were engaged through the 9 Give a Days.
2024
Successfully launched Give a Day in the provinces
Building on the success of the Give a Day events in Phnom Penh, where a co-hosting strategy was effectively implemented, the initiative expanded to Siem Reap and Battambang provinces in 2024. Give a Day in provinces pivoted toward actionable workshops and tailored training sessions in response to the specific needs of provincial stakeholders, ensuring relevance and impact. We organized 12 Give a Day events attracting a total of 528 participants, including 245 women. 7 events in Phnom Penh drew 361 participants, of which 188 were women. In Siem Reap, 3 events co-hosted with the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC) Siem Reap Chapter gathered 126 participants, including 32 women. In Battambang, 2 events co-hosted with PhumImpact Battambang were attended by 41 participants, 25 of whom were women.
2025
CURATED SESSIONS BASED ON THE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM ROADMAP AND LOCAL DEMAND
In 2025, 3Ei organised 10 events — 6 in Phnom Penh, 3 in Siem Reap, and 1 in Battambang— engaging 388 participants including 198 women from 126 institutions. Give a Day has evolved beyond a networking platform; it is a vital space for learning and onboarding ESO representatives, facilitating their integration into the broader ecosystem. Each session was curated to align with the local demand and the 19 actionable recommendations of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Roadmap (EER) 2025 – 2030. Key thematic areas included Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) integration, investment readiness, and practical applications of AI for business growth.
2026
LEVERAGING GIVE A DAY TO SUPPORT THE OPERATIONALIsATION OF THE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM ROADMAP
Building on the momentum of previous years, Give a Day continues to deliver highly curated, demand-driven sessions that support the operationalisation of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Roadmap (EER). In 2026, the initiative is shifting toward a more intentional and strategic deployment of each event. This ensures that every session provides maximum value for stakeholders and remains responsive to the rapidly evolving entrepreneurial landscape in Cambodia.
