We Make a Difference: Swisscontact Cambodia Gives Back

Our staff demonstrate our values in action by supporting children and planting seeds for the Future

On 4 July 2025, the Swisscontact team in Cambodia proved once again that our commitment to sustainability and social impact extends beyond the workplace. At a heartfelt community engagement event held at Kraing Chek Primary School, Kampong Speu Province, within the initiative of Green Office Committee, supported by many generous colleagues, brought meaningful change to students’ lives while planting seeds for a greener tomorrow.

This was more than just a visit; it was an act of solidarity. Staff members from across the office donated useful items such as tote bags, reusable bottles, stationery, books, toys, shoes and bags, everyday items that many children in the community cannot afford. These gifts are more than just material items; they are tools of empowerment, enabling students to participate fully in their education.

The smiles on the children’s faces spoke of joy, dignity and inclusion. By meeting basic needs, our colleagues helped remove barriers to learning and showed what solidarity looks like in practice.

But it didn’t stop there.

After the contribution, the Green Office Committee organised a tree-planting activity for students and teachers on school grounds. This hands-on initiative enable young learners a tangible connection to the environment and the opportunity to be part of something bigger than themselves. In the process, they learned how to plant a tree and why it matters.

Sustainability and responsibility are not abstract concepts for Swisscontact; they are part of our DNA. Whether through daily office practices or field initiatives like this one, our staff are committed to making the world fairer, cleaner, and more inclusive—step by step, tree by tree.

Every year, Swisscontact in Cambodia seeks to strengthen its ties with local communities. This year's school outreach programme was entirely staff-led, demonstrating the depth of our organisational values. It’s about living the mission: empowering people, building resilient systems and creating opportunities, starting right where we are.
