Uttoron organised the second task analysis workshop in Khulna with multiple industry experts to develop a Competency Standard (CS) for introducing training on the Welding Inspector occupation. The project is working with National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) to develop the CS. There is high demand for certified welding inspectors in Bangladesh. Unfortunately, no such certification course is available locally to become a welding inspector. Therefore, an interested individual must travel abroad to receive such a certification course. Understanding the high demand in the market, Uttoron approached NSDA to develop the CS for Welding Inspector training, and NSDA approved the initiative. The initiative by Uttoron project will create new avenues of occupation for veteran welders and those interested in gaining expertise in the industry-demanded trade. Experts from academia and leading industries such as Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Khulna Shipyard, BITAC, M/S. Rocky Dockyard participated in the day-long workshop.
