On 2nd November 2021, Uttoron organised a curriculum validation workshop in Chittagong to finalise the draft curriculum on internationally standardised advanced welding training. The workshop was organised with the international welding certification authority Bureau Veritas (BV) and Khulna Shipyard. Experts from shipping industries and academia validated the draft curriculum. Lack of standardised certification has been one of the significant challenges for Bangladeshi workers in getting jobs abroad. Uttoron project recently signed an agreement with Khulna shipyard to introduce 3G -4G level advanced welding training certified by Bureau Veritas. This pioneering initiative will add a new dimension to the skills development sector of Bangladesh since, as of today, no such training is provided by any vocational training centres in the country. An internationally accredited training will ensure access for our workers to the global market. Uttoron project is funded by Chevron and implemented by Swisscontact Bangladesh.
