The workshop was chaired by Mr. Thevarak Phonekeo, Deputy Director General of the Department of Planning and Cooperation, MAE, and brought together representatives from line ministries, civil society organizations (CSOs), mass organizations, the National University of Laos, and other relevant stakeholders.
The main objective of the workshop was to assess the progress of the Lao PDR SCP Roadmap 2022-2025 and reflect on the country’s Vision 2030. The Department of Planning and Cooperation, MAE, delivered key presentations outlining the current status of the Roadmap, followed by inputs from CSOs in Vientiane Capital and Luang Prabang province, who shared recommendations for the development of the new SCP roadmap 2026-2030.
Participants actively engaged in group discussions and provided feedback on strengthening policy frameworks to support the implementation of SCP. Key focus areas included promoting green products, waste management, sustainable consumption practices, eco-friendly tourism services, environmental education, and green public procurement.
This milestone event marks a significant achievement for the SCP Lao project, as it convened the first national workshop dedicated to evaluating the implementation of the SCP roadmap 2022–2025 and setting the foundation for the forthcoming 2026-2030 strategy.
