Since, 2021, the MetKasekor IT Platform has been a cornerstone of Swisscontact’s support to Cambodia’s agricultural transformation under the Innovation for Sustainable Agriculture (ISA) project of Swisscontact in Cambodia. Designed as a digital management and reporting tool, the platform enhances the effectiveness of the MetKasekor model by collecting and consolidating data on farmer training, adoption of Conservation Agriculture (CA) practices, and extension service delivery. Over the past four years, the platform has generated valuable insights, enabling the Department of Extension for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DEAFF) and relevant stakeholders to better track the progress, understand the landscape, and further contribute in making decisions for CA adoption across Cambodia.
The handover of the MetKasekor IT Platform to DEAFF marks a significant step towards integrating of the system into the national agricultural extension framework. This transition enables DEAFF to monitor effectively the adoption rates, produce data-driven reports, and increase transparency and accountability in extension services. Beyond the benefit for the public sector, the platform also provides valuable market signals to the private sector by highlighting the increasing demand for sustainable farming technologies in CA practices, especially no-till planters and cover crop seeds. This data will help to stimulate a greater private-sector investment in agroecological solutions, creating opportunities for agribusinesses and expanding the availability of services and technologies for farmers.
Swisscontact has supported DEAFF and other partners throughout this journey of in promoting Regenerative Agriculture - from the platform’s design and pilot testing to its refinement and integration into existing systems of the Cambodian Government. Looking forward, Swisscontact will continue to collaborate closely with DEAFF through other initiatives, including the Cambodia Conservation Agriculture and Sustainable Intensification Consortium (CASIC), which plans to utilise the MetKasekor IT Platform as a key tool for tracking progress on CA and agroecology nationwide.
This handover marks an important milestone in Swisscontact’s long-standing commitment to promoting regenerative agricultural practices in Cambodia. Together with public and private-sector partners, we remain dedicated to improving soil health, productivity, and resilience, contributing to increasing income generation of smallholder farmers and a more sustainable future for agriculture across the country.
