Accidents always come uninvited, therefore preparedness for any unfortunate situation is an essential skill in both personal and professional life. To prepare the employees for such events, Swisscontact Bangladesh organises annual safety trainings. Due to the pandemic, it was not possible to arrange the training in 2020. However, this year, on 13th, 14th and 15th December on a small scale with 40 participants, from different projects and country office, Swisscontact Bangladesh coordinated the training ensuring COVID safety and social distancing.
The training was designed in three parts, first one was conducted by Alamgir Kabir, Head of Business Administration, Swisscontact Bangladesh. The first briefing took place on 13th December 2021 on a virtual meeting where Alamgir Kabir highlighted Swisscontact’s Local Security Plan, Policy on Security Risk Management, and COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for Business Continuity. The second briefing took place on 14th December 2021 at Hotel Six Seasons where Syed Manirul Islam briefly described necessities for fire safety and covered preliminary knowledge about fire, fire safety measures, extinguishing medias for different types of fire, etc. in the first half of the day. He described different types of first aid practice for different accidents like bandages, CPR, carrying different types of patients without stretcher, etc. in the second half of the day. The day was concluded with lecture and demo on earthquake preparedness.
On 15th December, to make the briefing from the last two days more effective, a practical drill was arranged. The drill took place in the office premises of Swisscontact Bangladesh. The 40 participants were divided into three groups. They were fire fighters, rescuers, and first aiders.
