25.02.2019
On February 22nd, 2019, the PROMOST project in collaboration with the Government of Rwanda officially opened the Nyabihu TVET School. Hon Dr. Eugene Mutimura, the Ministry of Education in Rwanda along with Mrs. Beatrice Meyer the Head of Swiss cooperation in the Greatlakes, graced the ceremony and were enthusiastic about the impact the school would make in the community.

The project’s first implementation phase took place between 2012 and 2015 and saw not only the construction of five TVET schools but also their supply with up-to-date equipment. This was in line with achieving the outcome of increasing access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) centres. The schools were built in Karongi, Ngororero, Rutsiro, Nyamasheke and Rusizi districts in Rwanda. The newly built institution is located in Nyabihu district and is an accomplishment of an intervention under the second project phase (2016 -2019).

The Nyabihu TVET School will host the Rwanda Coding Academy as a special program. The initiative will focus on training the community on software development, embedded systems and cybersecurity. The Nyabihu inhabitants were glad that the school was opened in their region and promised to capitalize on the opportunity to improve their level of education and competitiveness.
