Promoting Tourism Development Through Intellectual Property

14.04.2023
The Albanian-Swiss Intellectual Property Project (ALSIP) gathered the tourism operators in Saranda to elaborate on the importance of promoting intellectual property through tourism.

The president of the Association of Tourist Operators of Albania and the General Directory of Industrial Property both emphasized the significance of promoting IP through tourism.

The participants also received a publication from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), "Encouraging tourism development through IP."

During the discussion, the guests highlighted the importance of registering industrial property objects and understanding the potential of IP asset management strategy. This is especially important in the service sector, where branding plays a significant role in competition. Since tourism is a vital part of Albania's economy, promoting tourism development through IP aims to raise awareness of the connection between IP tools, rights, and tourism promotion, provide guidance for the planning and management of tourist destinations, and offer recommendations for policy and decision-makers in the public and private sectors.

ALSIP is a development cooperation project between the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Albania, financed by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO.
