Proactive Steps to Meet the Needs for Vegetables

As the time to begin planting of vegetable seedling approaches, Fidanishtja e Godancit specialized nursery is all set to supply its contracted farmers: both larger greenhouse owners and individuals farmers for production in open field.

To ensure that farmers can afford to buy the seedlings and avoid any interruptions in their farming activity that would then affect the market supply, Fidanishtja e Godancit has reached an agreement with collection center Agrocelina and the Promoting Private Sector Employment (PPSE) project. Based on this agreement, PPSE will stimulate the farmers contracted through the collection center Agrocelina by covering €0.03 per each of the 200,000 cucumber seedlings. The remaining amount shall be covered by Agrocelina and farmers.   

“With the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, through the PPSE project, we increased our capacities for the production of high quality vegetable seedlings. Faced with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemics, this collaboration enables a secure production of vegetables that will meet the food needs of the population, and also those of food processing companies,” said Skender Ramadani of Fidanishtja e Godancit.  This nursery also has ready 400,000 seedlings for cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes, pumpkins and onions are ready for distribution to 30 large greenhouse owners and 2,000 smaller individual farmers. Ramadani is negotiating with Krusha e Madhe women-owned Cooperative for some 500,000 pepper seedlings.
