Private Sector is a Driver of Growing the Organic Production in Kosovo

On 22 March 2019, some forty representatives from non-wood forest products (NWFP) and medicinal aromatic plants (MAP) businesses attended an information session on organic standards and certification requirements. 

The information session was organized by Shoqata ORGANIKA – the association of processors and exporters of NWFP and MAPs, to share with the sector players the latest information on the inspection and certification procedures for cultivation, sustainable collection and processing of plants, as well as transportation, storing and labelling of such products. 

Kosovo is fast becoming well-positioned in the market for organic products, and the private sector is leading the way. To ensure a better future of the medicinal aromatic plants sector, it is important that all businesses and individuals involved are well-informed about organic standards in spontaneous collection, in cultivation and processing of medicinal aromatic plants. Presentations from Albinspect, a certification body, and other information shared will further support these businesses grow.  

This information session, part of a series of such meetings, aims to increase the capacities of players in the sector.
