Maputo City Council and Swisscontact sign memorandum to promote youth entrepreneurship

The Maputo City Council and Swisscontact, Skills to Build project signed on December 4th, 2020 a memorandum of understanding to implement the economic integration programme for vulnerable young people in the municipal districts of Maputo.

Eneas Comiche, the President of Maputo City Council, said on that  occasion that with this partnership instrument "we believe that we will seek synergies for the economic insertion of vulnerable young people in Maputo Municipality, through technical-professional capacity building and financing of entrepreneurial initiatives, strengthening of technical-professional skills, awareness in matters of employment promotion and financial education, in addition to fostering the process of income generation and job creation aiming at integrating  this social stratum in the economic development of the Municipality".

Speaking just after the signing of the memorandum, the Swisscontact Director, Régula-Chávez Malgiaritta, said that Swissconatct is devoted towards promoting sustainable economic development and added that Skills to Build project aims to create opportunities for young people to improve their living conditions, especially young people through technical professional training in the construction areas.

Régula-Chávez Malgiaritta explained that Swisscontact in partnership with edility will make efforts to generate professional skills among vulnerable youth in Maputo in order to improve quality and productivity among youth, helping their families and creating employment in the community.

In the light of the agreement, the Maputo City Council will provide a set of self-employments for trained youths in technical areas.
