Green Marketing Training Empowers Businesses in Vang Vieng to Promote Sustainability

Vang Vieng, Laos - March 31st, 2023 - The Green Marketing Training, organized by Econox, was successfully held on Friday, March 31st, 2023, at the prestigious Silver Naga Hotel in Vang Vieng town.

The event was attended by 27 participants, including local trainers from the hotel and restaurant groups in Vang Vieng (HGGV), restaurant and bars groups in Vang Vieng (RBGV), and the Lao Hotel and Restaurant Association (LHRA), as well as lead trainers from Econox and representatives from httpool and Facebook Laos.

The event commenced with an opening speech by Mr. Bountai Sipaseuth, Deputy Director of the District office of Natural Resources and Environment Office - Vang Vieng, who welcomed all participants to the training. The objective of the Green Marketing Training was to equip businesses with the tools and knowledge to effectively communicate their green practices to customers, and gain insights on promoting their business through social networks, with valuable suggestions from the Meta Business (Facebook) representatives.

The training sessions were led by skilled trainers from Econox and the Provincial Hotel and Restaurant Associations, who provided comprehensive and practical module on designing their own posters and menu from Canva, a popular graphic design platform, to effectively convey green practices to their customers. Participants were engaged in interactive sessions, group discussions, and practical exercises, equipping them with practical skills to implement sustainable marketing strategies in their businesses.

 

The training was complemented by presentations from HTTPool, Facebook's authorized sales partner in Lao PDR, and the Plastic Free Laos label. As Meta (Facebook) authorized sales partner, Httpool provides support and regional expertise to local businesses reach greater audiences and engage in meanungful conversations across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and Whatsapp. They featured their experience as the authorized sales partner for Facebook in Europe, as well, and they aim to assist Meta / Facebook business users the latest advertising solutions to countries that we operate, and provide advertisers support in marketing and promotion.

The event was a success, with participants gaining valuable insights and practical skills to implement green marketing practices in their businesses. It was an excellent opportunity for businesses to network, exchange ideas, and learn from each other's experiences. Swisscontact's Waste to Value project strengthens the environmental performance in service sector SMEs (hotels, restaurants, cafés and mini-marts) by improving their waste management practices and access to green products. The project further strengthens business operations and improves workplace safety for informal waste pickers increasing their income and quality of livelihood.
