Ghana: A Gateway for Swiss Green Tech and Scalable Partnerships

21.08.2025
Swisscontact Ghana is committed to bridging Swiss innovation with Ghana’s dynamic economy, unlocking ESG-aligned investment opportunities through inclusive, locally led collaboration. This ambition was at the heart of Swisscontact’s participation in the “Ghana and West Africa – A Ready Market for Swiss Environmental Technology” event on 21 August 2025 at the Swiss Global Enterprises (S-GE) office in Zurich, where stakeholders gathered to explore sustainable partnerships and scalable solutions for West Africa’s green transition.

A Strategic Moment in Zurich

During the event, Rajiv Pradhan, Country Director of Swisscontact Ghana, shared how Ghana is creating promising ground for sustainable business models and international collaboration. The seminar, organised by Swissenviro in partnership with Swiss Global Enterprises and Swisscontact highlighted Ghana’s enabling environment for clean energy, circular economy, and climate-smart innovation, making it a promising launchpad for Swiss environmental technologies and joint-ventures across West Africa.

The event also served as a prelude to the West African Clean Energy & Environment (WACEE) Conference 2025, scheduled for 11–12 November 2025 in Accra, one of Africa’s most influential platforms for renewable energy, waste management, and climate-smart solutions.

Swisscontact Ghana’s Business-Oriented Approach

Swisscontact in Ghana, aligned with approach of Swisscontact globally, applies a business-oriented lens to development, grounded in the organisation’s core principles: private initiative, systemic change, locally led development, and quality.

Swisscontact Ghana’s work is structured around three interconnected pillars:

  • Energy – Supporting the expansion of renewable energy access and promote low-carbon growth. Initiatives like BisaConnect, a digital platform of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) linking users with vetted renewable energy consultants, and Carbon Accounting Training, which builds industry capacity for decarbonisation.
  • Agriculture – Promoting climate-smart farming and resilient value chains. Initiatives such as Kanea, promoting sustainable cocoa production and resilient farming practices.
  • Circular Economy – Reducing waste and promote green innovation. Initiatives like Sesatec of the Electro Recycling Group (ERG) transforming e-waste into green jobs and refurbished products.

These pillars and initiatives reflect Swisscontact’s commitment to inclusive development, innovation, and impact at scale. They are designed to attract ESG-driven investors by offering measurable outcomes and strong local partnerships.
