As global climate demands intensify, Ghanaian industries continue to position themselves at the forefront of sustainable transformation. The final session of the GHG Accounting and Decarbonisation Training, delivered through a partnership between Swisscontact Ghana and the Association of Ghana Industries – Energy Service Centre (AGI-ESC), has officially concluded in Accra, solidifying a comprehensive capacity-building journey that began months ago.
This concluding cohort brought together professionals across diverse sectors, all committed to understanding and managing their greenhouse gas emissions as businesses integrate climate responsibility into long-term planning.
The training equipped participants with practical skills in calculating Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, interpreting international reporting frameworks, and developing actionable decarbonisation strategies tailored to their organisations.
Led by Isaac Batini, Technical Lead at AGI-ESC and facilitator for all cohorts, the sessions were structured to ensure that participants not only grasped the theoretical components of GHG accounting but also gained the confidence to apply them within their respective companies.
A key highlight of this year's programme was the direct 50% cost subsidy provided by Swisscontact Ghana, which made the training more accessible to a wider range of firms. Additionally, Swisscontact’s partnership enabled AGI-ESC to support participants through practical backstopping, helping them apply the tools and methodologies learned with selected companies.
Through this collaboration, Swisscontact Ghana and AGI-ESC have continued to advance a shared vision: empowering Ghanaian industries with the technical capabilities needed to lead the country’s low-carbon transition.
The programme reflects Swisscontact’s broader commitment to strengthening local systems, enhancing green competitiveness, and positioning the private sector as a driving force in national climate action.
With the final training session successfully completed, Swisscontact Ghana and AGI-ESC remain committed to working with industries as they begin implementing the strategies and tools gained. The outcome is clear: a stronger, more climate-aware industrial sector equipped to champion Ghana’s transition toward a resilient and low-carbon future
