In 2025, Empower AgriWomen established a strategic partnership with Nizhyn Agrotechnical Institute to advance women’s entrepreneurship and enhance modern competencies in agricultural production.

Amid a full-scale war, ongoing security challenges, and regular power outages, Ukrainian women continue to pursue education, adopt new technologies, and seek solutions that optimize time, resources, and production processes. In this context, building accessible, modern, and technologically equipped learning environments becomes especially important.

In March 2025, Swisscontact and Nizhyn Agrotechnical Institute signed a Memorandum of cooperation, laying the foundation for updating curricula, modernizing infrastructure, and integrating digital tools into the training of future professionals in the agricultural sector. The partnership focuses on building managerial, entrepreneurial, and analytical competencies aligned with the evolving needs of the agribusiness sector.

A key milestone was the technical upgrade of the Women’s entrepreneurship laboratory in May 2025. The project provided the Institute with 15 modern laptops, enabling the full integration of digital tools into the educational process and creating a contemporary learning workspace.

The upgraded laboratory now supports practice-oriented learning. Students work with real-sector case studies, conduct financial and profitability analyses, plan production cycles, and assess operational risks. This approach strengthens the practical relevance of academic training and improves alignment with current industry standards.

Early results indicate both technical and behavioural shifts. Students demonstrate increased analytical confidence, greater independence in decision-making, and a growing capacity to develop business concepts. In the context of wartime uncertainty, these skills contribute to risk-informed planning and the development of more resilient business models.

"Ukraine remains a strong agricultural country, and strengthening this sector is one of our strategic priorities. We clearly recognize the need for updated approaches and are committed to actively supporting women seeking professional realization in agriculture. Investing in their development today strengthens the sector’s ability to address future challenges.”"

The partnership is generating measurable regional impact by fostering a community of women preparing to launch agribusiness initiatives or pursue leadership roles in farm management. Through upgraded infrastructure and structured methodological support, students gain access to tools that enhance operational efficiency, enable evidence-based decision-making, and support long-term business sustainability.

The next phase will focus on expanding training modules, scaling practical workshops, introducing mentoring mechanisms, and organizing study visits to modern agricultural enterprises. These steps aim to deepen the entrepreneurial component and further integrate innovation into agricultural production.

Overall, the partnership represents a strategic investment in strengthening the competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability of Ukraine’s agricultural sector through the advancement of women’s leadership.
