Exploring the feasibility of digitalising the revenue and fees collection system of the municipality by utilising FinTech model

Funded by Switzerland and Government of Bangladesh, co-implemented by Swisscontact and Local Government Division (LGD), the PRABRIDDHI project is working with the partner municipalities to foster local economic development.

Ms. Corinne Henchoz Pignani, Deputy Head of Cooperation, participated in a four-day intensive visit to Shibganj from 17th to 20th October 2021. During her visit, she met with the mayor Mr. Monirul Islam and exchanged views on ongoing local economic development activities in Shibganj. She has observed how project’s partner, bKash, is exploring the feasibility of digitalising the revenue and fees collection system of the municipality by utilising their FinTech model. She also had meetings with the council members, mango associations, mango growers, multi-stakeholder platforms, business communities, women entrepreneurs, and other local stakeholders during the visit.
