DC of Habiganj attends Uttoron’s dialogue

Uttoron organised a dialogue on, “Need for Skilled Workforce: Challenges and Mitigation strategy”, with the local administration of Habiganj, private sector and NGOs on 11 January 2021 at The Palace Resort, Habiganj.

At the event the industry leaders pointed out that the existing workforce lacks the skill to meet the demand of the fourth industrial revolution and we need to modernise our training curriculums and TVET system to mitigate this problem. They also mentioned that women workers demonstrate higher level of professionalism and productivity at workplace. However, because of social taboos and security issues persistent in Sylhet region they feel discouraged to work in the industry. They requested the district administration to pay special attention to resolve this problem. The chief guest of the event was Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, DC, Habiganj and special guest of the event was Sheikh Mohi Uddin, UNO, Nabiganj Upzilla, Habiganj. Distinguished participants of the event included representatives from major industries of Sylhet division including PRAN-RFL Group, Alim Industries Ltd., Khadim Ceramics Ltd. Fulkoli Food Products Ltd., SILCO Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Akij Plastics Ltd., Star Porcelain Ltd., Square Denims Ltd., Star Ceramics Pvt. Ltd., Omera Cylinders Ltd., Pioneer Denim Ltd., S.M Spinning Mills Ltd.  and Sylhet Women Chamber of Commerce Industry and representatives from partnered training service provider namely TMSS and UCEP Bangladesh were present the event.
