CDRC and M4C organised skill development training for the Journalists, M4C

Chars Development Research Centre (CDRC) of Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogura in collaboration with Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) project organized a skill development training for the national and local level journalists from 12-14 November 2019 at RDA. The training aimed to enhanceg capacities of the journalists on business reporting focusing economic activities of the char areas.

Veteran journalists from leading newspapers and TV channels of Bangladesh were the facilitators of the sessions. The interactive technical sessions highlighted key tactics and strategies to develop successful news reports, TV reporting, radio reporting, and photojournalism. The participants also developed a basic understanding of how the market system development approach brought in systemic changes within the Char areas. Furthermore, all the participants visited Khashrajbari Char in Kazipur, Sirajganj to see first-hand the prevalent Char issues and prepared reports on those topics.

The chief guest of this training event was Mr. Aminul Islam, Director General (Additional Secretary), RDA, Bogura. The event was chaired by Dr. Md. Abdur Rashid, Director, CDRC and Project Director, M4C, who also presented the Roles and Activities of CDRC at the event. The nature, activities, and impact of the M4C project were presented by S M Mahmuduzzaman, Team-leader, M4C. Ms. Jannat Adib Chowdhury, Manager, Capitalisation and Cross-Cutting Themes of M4C project provided a basic overview of the inclusive Market Systems Development (MSD) approach and how this approach can be utilized to understand char market system. The event ended with a certificate award ceremony for the participants.

M4C is a project mandated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and Ministry of LGRD and Cooperatives, Government of Bangladesh and implemented by Swisscontact in collaboration with Rural Development Academy, Bogura.
