BisaConnect Platform Engages Stakeholders to Accelerate Solar Energy Adoption in Ghana

02.05.2026
On 12 February 2026, key public and private sector stakeholders gathered at the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) in Accra for a stakeholder engagement session on BisaConnect, a new digital platform designed to streamline access to solar energy solutions for Ghanaian industries.

Supporting Ghana’s Green Transition through Digital Innovation

BisaConnect is an AGI‑ESC-owned initiative developed in partnership with Swisscontact to address persistent barriers to solar energy adoption, particularly the limited access to credible feasibility studies, trusted service providers, and appropriate financing solutions. By digitalising and coordinating these processes, the platform seeks to make solar investments more accessible, transparent, and efficient for industrial users.

Opening the session, Mr Isaac Batini, Chief Technical Officer of AGI‑ESC, outlined the mandate of the Energy Service Centre to provide renewable energy and energy efficiency advisory services to Ghana’s industrial sector. He noted that BisaConnect is a strategic response to industry demand for reliable, cost-effective pathways to renewable energy adoption.

Swisscontact’s Role in Advancing the Green Economy

Delivering the keynote address, Mr Kofi Anim Ayeko, Manager for Renewable Energy at Swisscontact, highlighted the organisation’s three core intervention areas: Skills and Employment, Enterprise Development, and Green Transition. He emphasised that the Green Transition component provides a strong foundation for collaboration with AGI‑ESC, positioning BisaConnect as a practical tool for supporting businesses to reduce emissions while strengthening productivity and competitiveness.

How the BisaConnect Platform Works

A live demonstration of the platform was delivered by Npontu Technologies, the platform developer, with technical guidance from the AGI‑ESC team. The presentation walked participants through the end‑to‑end process, from requesting a discounted solar feasibility study to project implementation.

Through the platform, registered industrial users referred to as Green Users can submit requests for feasibility assessments. These requests are reviewed by AGI‑ESC and assigned to pre‑approved consultants. Once feasibility reports are completed and validated, companies can initiate a competitive tender process, inviting certified solar service providers to submit proposals. Financial institutions are also integrated into the ecosystem, enabling tailored financing offers to support project implementation.

Distinct user roles are built into the system to ensure transparency and role separation among consultants, service providers, and financiers.

Stakeholder Feedback and Key Insights

The engagement featured an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants raised practical questions and shared suggestions on platform governance, consultant selection, financing arrangements, and post‑installation operation and maintenance. AGI‑ESC clarified that while the platform supports early project stages, subsequent services such as transaction advisory or owner’s engineering are offered as separate engagements.

Stakeholders also welcomed the platform’s emphasis on fairness, quality assurance, and standardised technical processes, noting its potential to increase confidence in solar investments.

Recommendations to Strengthen the Platform

Based on the discussions, several recommendations were proposed to further enhance the functionality and impact of BisaConnect. These included defining clear timelines for feasibility studies, introducing a rating system for service providers, setting validity periods for feasibility reports, and incorporating standard technical criteria and structural integrity assessments. Participants also recommended displaying key impact metrics, such as installed solar capacity and estimated CO₂ emissions savings to support sustainability tracking and reporting.

Looking Ahead

The stakeholder engagement marked an important step towards the official launch of BisaConnect, which is tentatively planned to coincide with the AGI‑ESC B2B Expo in May 2026. Feedback from the session will be used to fine‑tune the platform and ensure it responds effectively to industry needs.

With strong institutional backing and growing stakeholder interest, BisaConnect is well positioned to play a catalytic role in accelerating solar energy adoption, supporting Ghana’s green transition, and advancing inclusive, climate‑friendly industrial growth.

The Green Economy Project
The project supports Ghana’s transition to renewable energy, thereby reducing carbon emissions and energy costs and at the same time realises the untapped potential of job creation in the sector. By capacity building and upskilling of the current and new workforce, piloting of new business models and developing financing mechanisms to facilitate investments by companies, individuals and institutions in renewable energy, the project drives Ghana’s shift toward a bright and sustainable future.
