Swisscontact and Opsio have partnered to develop a digital ESG platform tailored to the RMG industry’s sustainability, regulatory, and reporting needs. This platform aims to be a key catalyst for advancing sustainability in Bangladesh’s ready-made garments sector.

Swisscontact’s PROGRESS (Promoting Green Growth in the RMG Sector through Skills) project has entered a strategic partnership with Opsio, a leading cloud service provider, to jointly explore and develop a digital ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) platform tailored to the needs of Bangladesh’s RMG sector. The collaboration marks a significant step forward in advancing sustainability, transparency, and competitiveness of the industry.

The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 24 June 2025 at The Amari Hotel, Dhaka. To mark the occasion, a stakeholder consultation workshop was held alongside the signing ceremony, bringing together key industry actors to discuss challenges, opportunities, and strategies for sector-wide adoption of digital ESG solutions.

The MoU builds on the findings of a year-long action research initiative, RMG ESG Systems Mapping and ESG Digital Platform Feasibility Study, conducted from April 2024 to February 2025.

Through this partnership, Swisscontact and Opsio will co-design and implement a comprehensive ESG digital platform informed by ongoing stakeholder consultations. The aim is to ensure the platform remains responsive to the RMG industry's evolving sustainability, regulatory, and reporting requirements.

Key focus areas include:

  • Centralised ESG data management and reporting
  • Stakeholder-driven digital solution design
  • Enhanced transparency and compliance across the value chain
  • Scalable system architecture for long-term industry use

This collaboration reflects Swisscontact’s mission to drive green transition and its commitment to invest itself to be at the forefront of digital innovation in Bangladesh’s RMG sector. Aligned with Swisscontact’s long-term vision for sustainable development, the platform is designed to evolve into a scalable, tech-enabled solution that empowers industries to meet global sustainability standards and contribute to more responsible, future-ready manufacturing.
