The project consists of a gender assessment of the water and sanitation sector in Albania. The main goal is to elaborate a gender action plan for the Durrës regional water and sanitation utility.

RESULTS / IMPACT

  • Gender Action Plan for the water and sanitation facility of Durrës (UKRD). This Action Plan will anchor gender equality in UKRD's business plan, standard operational procedures, HR practices, and employee management.

OUR ROLE

Tasks included:

1.a thorough gender analysis of the legal, political, and institutional framework of the water and sanitation sector in Albania, particularly of the Durrës region;

2.a detailed diagnosis of the water and sanitation utility’s (UKRD’s) capacities regarding gender equality (among staff, senior and middle management, and HR personnel), their internal policies and processes, as well as evaluating the gender sensitivity of UKRD’s programs and projects and its capacity to implement programs with a transversal gender focus

3.a brief socio-economic study including gender issues and inequalities of the Durrës region related to water and sanitation.

4. a Gender Action Plan with detailed activities, indicators, targets, and budget for UKRD

5. a ToR for the subsequent Technical Assistance to implement the Gender Action Plan.
