AMD Framework - Scoping of the Agricultural Sector in Zambia

The overall objective of this assignment, is to conduct a comprehensive scoping of Zambia’s agriculture sector. This will provide critical insights to inform the design of a new agriculture enterprise development programme, which is aligned with Sweden’s strategic objectives for economic development and livelihoods.

OUR ROLE

  • Review of prioritised intervention areas: The team assessed the intervention areas outlined in the Embassy’s theory of change and recommended additional focus areas that had been overlooked to ensure that the proposed programe fully addresses systemic constraints within Zambia’s agriculture sector.
  • Identification of like-minded donors for co-financing: The study identified potential donors who are either currently supporting or planning to support initiatives that align with Sweden’s priorities.
  • Mapping of potential implementing partners: The assignment identified and assessed potential cooperating partners within Zambia and the region who have the capacity and experience to implement an enterprise and agriculture development programme.
  • In addition to Zambia-specific programmes, the Team looked for synergies with Sweden’s regional development cooperation strategy for Africa (2022-2026) and other relevant international strategies, to ensure that the programme contributes to broader regional objectives.
