Programme de promotion de l'internationalisation au Pérou (angl.)

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) proposed to the Steering Committee of the MSMEs Fund the creation of the Internationalization Support Program (PAI), which is part of the National Export Strategic Plan PENX 2025, one of its main objectives being the internationalization of Peruvian companies. The PAI was approved on February 29, 2016, with a focus on supporting companies to increase sales and exports, as well as the diversification of international markets.

Résultats

The objective of PAI is to strengthen, promote and foster the internationalization process of exporting companies, contributing to improve their competitiveness, minimizing their risks and optimizing their capacities and management skills in foreign trade projects.

The PAI includes four modalities of intervention: promotion of exports, consolidation of export activity and international tenders, franchises and the commercial implementation to attend to different stages in the internationalisation process. Each modality consists of two components. The first consists of the elaboration of an internationalisation plan, while the second is the execution of the plan.

Intervention areas: Amazonas, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cusco, Junin, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Madre de Dios, Piura, San Martin and Tacna.

Beneficiaries: 185 export companies from 13 regions of Peru.

Results 2019

  • 102 beneficiaries were approved.
  • 15 companies concluded their participation with the programme.
  • 87 new jobs were generated.
  • 15 beneficiary companies exported a total of USD 1.7 million of the tariff items covered by the project to the priority markets, representing additional revenues of USD 958 000.
  • 15 beneficiary companies achieved a return of USD 4.68 for every dollar invested by the IAP.
