Training and employment of young people (FOPREJ)

Swisscontact contributes to the improvement of the living conditions of rural youth in the regions of Agadez, Tahoua and Tillabery, by the establishment of a training-system and the integration of trained youths into the labor market.

The Project

The project is aimed at young people living in rural and suburban areas, in the regions of Agadez, Tahoua and Tillabery. Its aim is to help improve their living conditions by reducing their vulnerability and marginalisation by means of the income from their work.

Having started in January 2014, the project initially set about assessing the situation in the three regions concerned, in order to identify the target segment and the local bodies with a motivation to assist, so that the effectiveness of the training and employment services was assured.

Results

  • 3,109 young people (including 1,306 girls) have completed an apprenticeship/
  • Implementation of the regional consultation framework for theprofessional training in the three regions of intervention of the programme (Agadez, Tahoua, Tillaberi).
