Facilitating Microleasing in Peru For small rural producers of quinoa and dairy products

The project has the objective to prepare and test Microleasing in Peru´s microfinance system in order to grant access to productive assets to small rural producers. As the first pilot microleasing initiative in Peru, the project will provide replicable professional conditions in the targeted microfinance institutions (Saving and Credit Cooperatives - SACCOs) to foster a scaled up intervention in a next phase through its National Federation of Saving and Credit Cooperatives of Peru (FENACREP).

The pilot will increase the access of small rural producers of the quinoa and dairy products value chain to assets and tools that will increase their productivity. After a successful pilot it is expected that FENACREP will, with support of Swisscontact, expand the project to other agricultural sectors and regions in Peru.

The pilot aims to reach 400 quinoa farmers and 750 dairy products producers that will participate in Financial Workshops and at least 20% of them will acquire productive assets through microleasing (80 and 150 clients respectively).

After a proper knowledge transfer, it is expected that FENACREP will scale up the product to the other three SACCOS in Puno, where it). is estimated that in a three year period the product will reach at least the 7% of the total potential market (4,200 clients).
