U-Learn II: Peer-to Peer Learning and Shared Value Partnerships in the Construction Sector

Two further publications under U-Learn II on youth engagement in peer-to-peer learning and more business partnerships in the construction sector showcasing Swisscontact's expert knowledge.

The U-Learn II project is a five-year project (2016-2021) implemented in Tanzania and Uganda in partnership with Mastercard Foundation. It continues the previous five-year initiative «Learn, Earn and Save».

The objective is to raise 15000 young people in Uganda and Tanzania out of poverty, sustainably, by increasing their competitiveness in the job market and improving their opportunities for self-employment by demonstrating the value proposition of engaging the young women and men in business models across agribusiness, hospitality and tourism, and building and construction market systems.

The following publications focus on the youth engagement in peer-to-peer learning and developing new «Shared Value Partnership Models» in the construction sector.

U-Learn II - Experience Paper – June 2018

The peer-to-peer learning activities presented in this experience paper build the leadership capacity of young leaders so that they themselves may become instrumental in driving and positioning young people towards a bright future.

This case study was commissioned to showcase the engagement of a youth leader, Francis Arinaitwe – an alumnus of Mastercard Foundation Youth Think Tank Project - who was engaged by U-Learn to facilitate peer-to-peer learning.

Case Study and Impact Stories from Wakiso (Central Uganda) and Jinja (Eastern Uganda) Districts.

The partnerships in the construction sector were developed with the intention of demonstrating the potential in scaling-up business activity in the construction companies by engaging young people as market actors.
