These meetings are the first step towards implementation of recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Swisscontact and Sheba.xyz. Under the scope of this MoU, Sheba will work with the TSPs to register Uttoron graduates as service providers under the online platform of Sheba. This partnership is expected to enhance the income opportunities of the self-employed and unemployed graduates and promote entrepreneurship.
Mr. Masud Reza, Head of Partner Management from Sheba.xyz, demonstrated the different features of their online apps while Mr. Mamunur Rahman, Team Leader of Uttoron project clarified the roles and responsibilities of different parties and discussed the proceeding steps. With the support of Uttoron project, Sheba.xyz is expecting to launch their service in Sylhet on 26 December 2018.
Uttoron - Skills for a better life, a three-year skills development project, commenced its journey in August 2016 with an aim to enhance employment opportunities for 1,400 community members in Sylhet, Moulavibazar and Habiganj districts. The project is funded by Chevron under “Workforce Development” component of its Bangladesh Partnership Initiative (BPI) and is being implemented by Swisscontact.
The project is designed to enhance the employability of the population, especially the youth, in the targeted districts by fostering awareness and providing job-oriented trainings. As for the training component, Uttoron has a unique partnership with the Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) of Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), which is implemented by Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh.
