M4C and CDRC organised a Market System Development (MSD) training
Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) project in partnership with Char Development Research Centre (CDRC) organised a three day-long training from 12th March 2019 to 14th March 2019 on Market Systems Development (MSD) at Rural Development Academy (RDA), Bogura. The training was facilitated by Ailsa Buckley, Head of Business Development/Business Development Central, East & Southern Africa (CESAF), Swisscontact & Fazle Razik, Team Leader, ASTHA, Swisscontact Bangladesh.
The training was organized for government officials, who are either conducting research or implementing project on the issues surrounding rural development of Bangladesh and have the intention to develop their understanding on market systems development. The training sessions particularly focused on how to identify gaps in the systems, how to find the root causes behind those constraints and how to develop an approach to the solution. The training participants also received information on how they can design and implement projects with greater impact, increase inclusivity, and lead the project to scale and ultimately sustainability. The participants also had the opportunity to visit a local market (Bazaar) at Mahasthangarh where they observed and mapped the market systems of specific local sectors and identify the gaps within these systems. The participants expressed that they were highly satisfied with the training content and that this would help them realize the flaws within the system and look at the bigger picture.
24 representatives from Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, Ministry of Planning, Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) and Rural Development Academy (RDA) participated in this interactive training.
