Embassy of Switzerland held the second Roadshow in Mandalay on 9 June 2017

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Myanmar, the Embassy of Switzerland in Myanmar is holding a series of Roadshows focusing on the theme of Vocational Education. The second roadshow was held in Mandalay, in the center of Myanmar on 9th June 2017 at one of Swisscontact’s partner hotels for training implementation, Hotel Shwe Pyi Thar from 8 am to 3 pm. The Mayor of Mandalay City and Ms. Carine Carey, Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy, attended the event and delivered opening and closing remarks.

More than 400 students from private and public high schools, government technical institutes, industrial training centres and Learners attending Swisscontact-implemented Hospitality training courses attended and actively engaged in a series of interactive activities such as quizzes, human dramas and a marionette show. The organizer and host, the Swiss Embassy/ Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) aims to raise awareness and understanding among the youth of Myanmar about vocational education and its benefits through the roadshows.

During the roadshow in Mandalay, Swisscontact presented its Swiss Embassy/SDC funded “Vocational Skills Development Program” at a booth display and explained the ongoing training opportunities to interested youths, teachers and authorities attending the roadshow.
