Swisscontact’s participation in the Kigali TVET Symposium

Swisscontact, implementer of a vocational training program fully funded by the Swiss Cooperation (SDC) in Rwanda participated in a TVET Symposium that was organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with World Skills Promotion and other Development Partners on 23rd November 2018. The aim of the symposium was to share knowledge and ideas on how skills development contributes to the industrial growth and job creation in Africa.

Mr. Alexandre Boin, the Director of Swisscontact Rwanda, DR Congo and Burundi was called up to a panel in order to share the experience of Swisscontact on the matter of the partnership between Industry and training providers in skills development.
The different panelists shared their experience of skills development in the work place and mostly the best practices of collaboration between industry and training providers. The Private Sector Federation (PSF) being on the panel, both sides shared views on what the market is looking for from an apprentice and what are the challenges faced from both the apprentice and the potential employer and they also provided ideas on what would be the solutions.  
The session allowed the participants from different countries in Africa to acquire more knowledge on what would be the conditions for a successful and sustainable workplace learning in Africa.
